If you could download one person’s (dead or alive) entire knowledge, wisdom, and memories to add to your own, whose would it be?
Isaac Asimov, the author of the Foundation Trilogy.
What will destroy humanity?
Even fight between global warming and A.I.
What will save humanity?
Probably A.I. trying to save us from global warming.
What is a lesson that you wish that you’d learned earlier in your life?
It’s not about yourself.
What negative experience in your life are you most happy that happened to you?
Divorce from my first wife. Second is leaving graduate school.
What is your definition of success, and has it changed over time?
It’s definitely changed over time. My definition of my success now is that I spend the largest possible portion of my day doing what I enjoy and that are worthwhile.
What is one thing everyone listening to this episode should go and do today?
Start their collection of stories. That’s what’s going to add up to something. And until you start keeping track of them, you can’t build anything from it.
The Infinity Gauntlet gives the holder the ability to snap their fingers and make anything their mind can imagine into reality. Here’s the catch though: it generally costs the wearer who snaps their fingers their lives. I have this gauntlet, and I’m offering it to you. What would you want to happen?
I definitely put it on and snap, because I want to make something worthwhile happen. What I would do is save humanity. I want to save us from global warming. I want to save us from disinformation and hate, and all the division that characterizes what we do now.
